The new European Library of Information and Culture (BEIC) is not a traditional library, where the treasures of an already existing culture can be sheltered and made accessible for the future, but a laboratory, where the tools necessary to produce contemporary culture.
The new BEIC combines a huge library heritage with a complex set of devices for reading and archiving digital content. This dual nature, evident already from the double figure, also characterizes its daily functioning.
