SUNNEI x Camper

Set design, SS25 Milan Fashion Week, 2024

Hosted by Milan contemporary art gallery Cassina Projects, the Milan Fashion Week installation featured a large pyramid made of recycled cardboard boxes, with Sunnei x Camper’s ForOne sneaker collection interspersed across levels. The footwear is 100 per cent symmetrical, meaning each shoe can be worn on the left or right foot, a unique quality that Ab(Normal)’s installation highlights through clear geometries. In red, white, yellow, green and blue, the sneakers provided a colourful contrast to the otherwise-empty all-white room and beige pyramid. A two-day event utilized this scene as a backdrop, inviting visitors to take part in a game-cum-experiment. Dots punctuating the ground were labelled with ‘No Left’ and ‘No Right’, prompting people to create their own choreographed path through the space and ultimately try the shoes on. Grid drawings referencing Hopscotch served as outlines on the floor.
